Where do we even start to describe what the year 2020 was?
No one could have predicted that we would be housebound, and almost overnight, we would have to pivot the way we operate.
Before the unexpected onslaught of COVID-19 and all that came with it, we had outlined many business goals. We are grateful that we could still accomplish a number of these goals in the last year, including completing a rebranding, launching a new website, closing 2 new software selection projects, performing multiple GP upgrades, and increasing our marketing activities.
Our Founder & Principal, Bryan Hack, used this time of uncertainty to focus ‘on’ the business and grow professionally. He started his CMC designation journey and proudly completed the Ethics and Essentials of Management Consulting courses. Stay tuned for more updates about his CMC journey
As with most businesses worldwide, we quickly became comfortable communicating with clients and prospects remotely and are proud to say that our team excelled.
The time we gained while adapting to our new working conditions inspired us to develop our new brand and website. These assets have enabled us to promote our company, culture and services more effectively, creating stronger brand awareness, despite the pandemic.
Working remotely with our existing and prospective clients has helped us to build valuable personal connections. We were all navigating this unchartered territory and figuring out our new ‘normal’ together, which in itself is a connecting experience.
As much as we have achieved successes through this time of COVID-19, we would be amiss not to acknowledge the adverse effect the pandemic has had on our business.
- Not being able to travel and hence missing out on face-to-face interactions with our clients and colleagues.
- Projects being put on hold as client’s IT departments were switching gears to help their staff work from home.
- Future projects delaying due to the clients’ hesitation with discretionary spending.
What did we learn through this experience in 2020?
At BHC, we decided to put priorities into perspective to make sure that we come out of the lockdown better prepared for growth.
We are experienced, nimble, agile, work well together, listen and communicate effectively whether we are working remotely or not. Being a boutique consultancy, we respond to issues quickly and get requests resolved faster than our competitors.
What do we see for the future?
We see a lot of interest in ERP software selection and GP upgrades and integrations. We also see an increase in clients wanting to move to software as a service rather than hosting on-premises. These insights are interesting to us, and we are curious to know what these changes will mean for the industry in 2021 and beyond.
Some words of wisdom from us!
If you are looking at new software, please note that it takes time. It can take anywhere from two to three months before you even pick a product if you go through a selection process. There are many factors to consider, and your company needs to be ready to invest in the journey.
