Lessons from 2020 and Looking Ahead to ERP Software Selection in 2021
Where do we even start to describe what the year 2020 was? No one could have predicted that we would be housebound and, almost overnight, forced to pivot the way we operate.
Before the unexpected onslaught of COVID-19, we had set many business goals. Despite the challenges, we are grateful that we accomplished a number of them, including:
Completing a full rebrand
Launching a new website
Closing two ERP software selection projects
Performing multiple Microsoft Dynamics GP upgrades
Expanding our marketing activities
Our Founder & Principal, Bryan Hack, also used this uncertain time to focus on professional growth. He began his CMC designation journey and proudly completed the Ethics and Essentials of Management Consulting courses. Stay tuned for more updates about his progress.
Adapting to Remote Work
Like most businesses, we quickly became comfortable working and communicating remotely. Our team excelled in serving clients virtually, and the time gained from adapting to these conditions inspired us to develop our new brand and website.
These assets strengthened our ability to share our culture and services, creating stronger brand awareness during the pandemic. Working remotely also helped us build valuable personal connections with clients who were navigating the same challenges.
Of course, there were setbacks:
Travel restrictions prevented face-to-face meetings.
Some projects were delayed as IT teams focused on enabling remote work.
Clients postponed discretionary projects due to financial uncertainty.
What We Learned from 2020
At BHC, we decided to put priorities into perspective and prepare for long-term growth. We learned that we are experienced, agile, and highly responsive. As a boutique consultancy, we resolve issues faster than larger firms and maintain strong communication with our clients—whether remote or in person.
Looking Ahead: ERP Software Selection in 2021
We see growing demand for ERP software selection, GP upgrades, and system integrations. More clients are also showing interest in moving to cloud-based software-as-a-service solutions rather than hosting on-premises.
These shifts are exciting, and we are curious to see how they will shape the industry in 2021 and beyond.
A Few Words of Advice
If you are considering new ERP software, keep in mind that it takes time. A structured ERP selection process may take two to three months before you even choose a product. Many factors must be considered, and your company needs to be ready to invest in the journey.
