I began my career in the early 70s after completing a Bachelor of Commerce degree followed by a Professional Accountant (S.A.) designation. I completed five years of Articles for a leading auditing and accounting firm in Durban, South Africa.
My interest was to leverage my training and work with small and medium size companies, initially in Financial Management positions, followed by promotions to Financial Director and Sales Director levels. It was during this time that I learned about I.T. and the ERP world and was successful in purchasing and implementing SYSPRO software for the companies I worked for.
In late 1993 I immigrated with my family to Canada, where I first found employment as an independent consultant to SYSPRO Canada. A Partnership followed this in what became a SYSPRO Dealer for ten years, followed by six years running my own SYSPRO Dealership. In 2009 it became clear that the I.T. and ERP world was changing rapidly, demanding more skilled staff and specialized services. So, I decided then to sell/merge my Dealership with a larger National SYSPRO Dealership and took on the role of Director of Western Operations. A large part of my duties was related to Account Management and Sales. My territory included Western Canada from Manitoba to British Columbia and down the U.S. Western corridor to Oregon.
My present goal is to leverage my 50 years+ of experience working in various accounting and ERP environments in junior and senior management roles to help grow my son Bryan’s business, the BHC Group. And to help our customers improve their businesses to achieve their maximum potential as they navigate through this new era of digital transformation.
Specializing in B.P.I. (Business Process Improvements), SYSPRO ERP Software sales, implementation, and training, I have helped many companies achieve their ERP potential. Additionally, I have helped them extend the Value of their core systems by researching and sourcing purposefully written Value Add 3rd party solutions. These solutions are Electronic Filing, Bar Coding, Advanced Factory and Warehouse Management, E.D.I., Quality Management, shipping local and across the border, CRM, Budgeting, Data automation and A.I. executive reporting systems when needed.
This experience has led to many enduring relationships with customers and vendors, extending back over 28 years. With an eye on the continuous improvement of systems, I can interpret customer needs into meaningful action, whether it is to eliminate duplication of effort and data silos or provide custom-developed reports or programs.
My hands-on work experience (serving on many Executive Management teams) has been either behind the desk in a Management or sales role, behind a computer in an ERP implementation or an advisory role.
Outside work for the past 28 years, I have held various volunteer Treasury and Board positions in my Non-Profit Community. Similarly, I have been an active member of my Strata Council for over 20 years. In addition, I am currently the President and Treasurer, which positions I have held many times.
When I am not working or volunteering, I am blessed to spend quality time with my wife of 43 years and four grandchildren, who keep me out of mischief.
